HASA 2018 Conference


Guidelines and instructions:

Proposals for paper presentations and documentaries are invited to the 2018 HASA conference.

Paper presentations:

A 20-minute presentation with 10-minute question/discussion time for audience interaction.

Documentaries: Lights, camera ... HISTORY!:

At the 2018 HASA conference original documentaries may be entered as a paper format.

A documentary may be entered under any of the topics.

Take note that there will not be a special separate documentary session. Documentaries will be screened during the normal sessions.

All the same particulars regarding a conventional paper remain the same; nonetheless a few notes:

  • A written abstract must still be submitted. NB! If a documentary will be entered please state clearly in the abstract submission form.
  • Time allocation: 20 minutes (Maximum).
  • Q&A will apply: 10 minutes
  • The documentary may be Afrikaans/English or bilingual.
  • The documentary may have an onscreen presenter but not necessarily. A voiceover is a must.
  • As it is a multimedia format, end-credits of the production team is permitted.
  • Where applicable, please state (on screen) before the program starts: Not For Sensitive Viewers.

All abstracts (minimum 150 and maximum 300 words) to be e-mailed to history@ufs.ac.za on the prescribed form as a word document.

Abstracts and papers may be delivered in either English or Afrikaans only. (Interpreter services will not be available.)

All abstracts will be submitted for adjudication.

A detailed programme will be announced once it has been finalised.

The registration for the conference, including accommodation, will open shortly.
